Of the 3 main techniques used by high level players to carry the puck in full stride (straight line stride), the “Two Hands Stride” technique is going to be the one that allows you the most control to make a play, such as making a pass, taking a shot, or deking an opposing player. Many players make the mistake of entering traffic from opposing players with only 1 hand on their stick, and then they are caught trying to get it back to 2 hands, as they are attacked. The “Two Hands Stride” technique allows you to avoid this. When practicing this technique, remember to work on pulling the puck wide, which will in turn lengthen out your stride and allow for more top speed as the stickhandling and strides occur in rhythm with each other. While this technique does give you the most control, the downside is that it is also the slowest of the 3.
