The “Fake Punch Stop” is an awesome skating technique that can be used in a variety of situations. One specific example is when a defender is covering you tight. As you perform the punch stop, the defender will often respond by also stopping, at which point you use your momentum which is still moving forwards to continue back along the direction you were originally heading. When working on the “Fake Punch Stop,” be sure that you have already gotten good at regular “Punch Stops” on their own. Another really important point to remember, is that your stick and head/shoulders should all fake with the “Punch.”
