The “Double Trampoline Jump” builds off the “Trampoline Jump” and “Puddle Jump,” in that it adds the fourth push for accelerating out of a stop. The fourth push builds on top of the first two pushes (“Puddle Jump”) and the third push (“Trampoline Jump”). It is important to try and be on the ball of your foot and spring forward with the fourth push. It is also essential to realize that this fourth push will likely be the final contact from the ball of your feet before you move into a flat blade and longer stride. When working on this technique, make sure to focus on opening up the hips, taking the cross under foot, and turning the toe to the opposite direction of where it faced on the stop, thus making contact for the fourth push. Lastly, while you want to be quick with your feet, be sure to focus on the depth of the steps and reach with each step. One of the reasons that this drill is beneficial is that the power generated can be measured and quantified by the depth and distance of the jump.
