“Scoot Overs” are the skating technique most often used when the puck is in a protected position and you are trying to cut around a defender. Often players will go into a 2 foot power turn in this situation, but the “Scoot Overs” allow you to keep your feet moving and continue to generate some speed and power while you are in the power position. When performing this technique, be sure to pull the puck to the protected position beside the body first, and then focus on building speed in the power position.
