The “Mohawk Glide” is an agility technique that is being used by more and more players of all ages and levels for a variety of applications. We are using the term “Glide” to describe the situation where both skates are on the ice at the same time while gliding. This is used in situations where you want maximum stability such as when you are being pushed by a defender, or when you are bracing for contact. “Mohawk Glides” are very commonly used when you have the puck and are scanning the ice, as they allow you to see more of the ice than looking over your shoulder. The “Mohawk Glide” is also a common favourite on wrap arounds. When working on this skill, remember to stay low for extra stability and control. This skill also relies on your flexibility and mobility, so make sure to address your mobility if you are having excesssive trouble with this skill.
