For the “Load and Shift Shot,” the weight starts on your back leg (Righty- Right Leg, Lefty- Left Leg), and it shifts forward to your front leg as you release the puck. Another important characteristic, is that your front leg toe is not pointing at the net, but rather it is pointing sideways (Righty- to the right, Lefty- to the left), which allows for the unique “twisting” motion of the “Load and Shift Shot.” Many traditional “wrist shots” and “slap shots” are load and shift. In general, the “Load and Shift” shot will be your most powerful shot, but will take the longest to release.
